The mission of the Berlin Institute of Health at Charité (BIH) is medical translation: transferring biomedical research findings into novel approaches to personalized prediction, prevention, diagnostics and therapies and, conversely, using clinical observations to develop new research ideas. The aim is to deliver relevant medical benefits to patients and the population at large. Since 2021 the BIH has been integrated into Charité as its so-called third pillar.

Project Lead (f/m/d) for the Translation Center Gene & Cell Therapy
in full-time or part-time (min. 30h/week)
 
In a strategic partnership with Bayer AG, a translation center is to be established in the heart of Berlin to attract start-ups and young companies developing advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs). We are looking for an experienced project manager for this exciting and challenging task. In tandem with the partner’s project manager, you will be responsible for the successful establishment of the center and management of all internal and external stakeholders.

What you can expect:

  • Responsibility as internal project manager, including preparation and follow-up of project plans, project management within defined limits
  • Coordination of various work packages for the creation of the scientific support program of the translation center:
    • Clarification of legal issues
    • Support, set-up and operation of the GMP facility
    • Business development and governance in close coordination with the responsible business units of the entire Charité and the partners at Bayer
  • Close coordination and cooperation with the other BIH initiatives and the rest of Charité on the National Strategy for Gene & Cell Therapy and the Berlin Center for Advanced Therapies (BeCAT)
  • Preparation of decisions by various committees at BIH, the rest of Charité and federal and state funding bodies

What you bring along:

  • Completed scientific university degree (Master's, Diploma or comparable) in the field of life sciences or natural sciences or other subject area, if coupled with relevant experience in project management in the field of life sciences
  • Several years of experience in project management, relevant certification desirable
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical drug development process, ideally in the field of ATMPs
  • Knowledge of the German science system and research funding advantageous
  • Outstanding organizational, moderation and communication skills
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills
