The mission of the Berlin Institute of Health at Charité (BIH) is medical translation: transferring biomedical research findings into novel approaches to personalized prediction, prevention, diagnostics and therapies and, conversely, using clinical observations to develop new research ideas. The aim is to deliver relevant medical benefits to patients and the population at large. The BIH was founded in 2013 and is funded 90 percent by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and 10 percent by the State of Berlin. Since 2021 the BIH has been integrated into Charité as its so-called third pillar.

Scientific Employee (f/m/d)
 
The BIH Cytometry Core Facility provides Flow and Mass Cytometry Services for BIH and Charite researchers. The core facility is equipped with high-end instrumentation, such as full spectrum flow cytometers and mass cytometry. We are seeking a scientific staff member for the operation of the instruments, providing instrument training and advise researchers on experiment design with respect to technological details. Training for mass cytometry and full spectrum flow cytometry can be provided.

In this position you will:

  • Operate flow and mass cytometry instruments
  • Provide instrument training on flow cytometry analysers
  • Provide technical and scientific support to core facility users
  • Participate in research projects of the core facility (technology advancement)

Your profile:

  • Master’s degree in biological sciences or a related field
  • Expertise and experience in flow cytometry is required
  • Experience in protocols for isolation of cells out of blood and tissue is required
  • Ability and willingness to work in an S2 environment is required
  • Experience in mass cytometry (suspension and imaging) is welcome, but training can also be provided
  • Experience in flow and mass cytometry data analysis with R-packages is welcome
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written), basic knowledge of German is required
